Learning & AS Learning
|
My goal is to
focus on assessment for learning and as learning instead of OF learning
though OF learning is necessary, I must set my students up for success before

questions, sit down for one on one consultations regarding work being handed
in, provide descriptive feedback on all work, allow student a chance to

Reporting
Student Achievement
|
My goal is to learn how to write effective
personalized comments for each individual student.
I want to ensure that my report card comments are
ALWAYS personalized and ALWAYS include descriptive feedback for ‘next steps’
to ensure success of my students
|
I will ask my Associate teacher to show me
examples of how she writes personalized comments for her students. I will ask
her to show me a report card and ask her to explain to me when she chose
those words when writing comments. I will take notes so that when I have to
write my own report cards, I can use her wording suggestions as a reference.
Follow the
Growing Success guidelines for Report Card writing-ensure that my Report Card
fulfillment is in line with Ontario Guidelines and practices

Students With
Special Education Needs
|
My goal is to
know how to plan effectively for students who require curriculum
modifications and/or accommodations, to make sure that these students; needs
are met and they are able to demonstrate their achievement with the highest
degree of effectiveness.
|
I will
collaborate with the school team (teacher, EA and resource teacher) to
consider the students strengths and collect assessment data to determine a
clear picture of the students learning needs. With this information, I can
adjust my instructional planning and discover different tools to use whether
accommodations, modifications or alternate learning expectations are
required.

English Language
Learners
|
My goal is to
promote effective practices for teaching English Language Learners
I want to
constantly educate myself on the ways to accommodate and modify lessons for
English Language Learners
I want to help
ELL students have a more positive learning experience. I want ELL students to
be able to feel comfortable and included in classroom activities and as a
Teacher Candidate I want to be able to learn new strategies and techniques I
can use to help promote a more positive, inclusive learning environment for
all ELL students.
|
Participate in
professional development workshops that focus on promoting effective
instruction for ELL.
A classroom
management strategy I will need to make sure I am modeling the steps or
showing student what a finished product should look like because this can go
a long way in helping a student understand. I will need to support concepts
and theories with pictures so that my ELL student can visually see what we
are learning.
Monitor ELL
students in the class to see if they need accommodations and or modifications,
allows differentiated instruction when applicable for ELL students
